VISUAL EXPERIMENT PHASE 1 Ideas are like ghosts stranded in a sea of the uninspired, and in the very instance of an apparition, a communal relationship between the two materialize. The duality of experience that lies in that relationship is what makes it interesting subject for a visual experimentation. The push and pull of the basic idea creates a pool of new ones, thus uncontrolled, and liberated from the guides set by the basic. And in these premise we set to explore the depth of the controlled and the uncontrolled, the obvious and the concealed, the assimilated and the accumulated. Visual Experiment Phase 1 is an initiative in constructing a precursor for a series of visual experiments that will be launched successively. In an archetypal art exhibit, the visual environment is not fully utilized and is often overlooked. Phase 1 however puts art, atmosphere & the audience as the principal media and tries to capitulate on the idea that a gallery is just a structure housing art and tries to challenge what lies beyond this point. Conservative artists delight audience using the ideal “what should be’s”, the confined and the refined aesthetics. Pop-surrealists entail enchantment using visual cues, flavorful and witty social commentaries. Graffiti artists bomb themselves away from the streets into the galleries leaving “concrete” casualties along the way. Abstract artists are the intellectuals, the milking cows and the bountiful source of color palettes. Concept artists grabs the audience by the spine, churns and mix them with bile, then spit them without a single shadow of a hint. Social realists are the mirrors of the obvious, the echo behind the shout, the ones that write the tablets of history. Alas! Came Kristoval and Vicente, neither slotted to inhabit on the “what should be’s” nor trample upon the veracity of the obvious, they both share the same vision and the tenacity to feed the bull. They thrive on the travesty of the trivial, to challenge the proven, and to prove that it is challenging. Thus, Kristoval and Vicente present to you, Visual experiment Phase 1. -Anonymous | EXISTENCE | Oct 14, 2009 |
